On February 27, 2009 in Vilnius, the Vilnius Region Local Government Administration Office held a formal signing of an international cooperation agreement concluded between Ostróda County and Vilnius Region.

The meeting served to review the existing contacts and agree on the forms of future cooperation. Cooperation between Ostróda County and Vilnius Region began two years before the agreement was signed and consisted, among others, of joint promotion during the VIVATOUR fair in Vilnius and presentaion of regional bands from Vilnius during the "Wileńskie Kaziuki" festival in Ostróda.

The partnership agreement was also signed by the Sandor Petrofi Vocational School Complex and the Vilnius School of Technology, Business and Agriculture in Vaidotai. Delegation of Ostróda County local government officials participated in the annual Polish harvest festival in Pikieliszki, organized by the Vilnius Region.
